Yoga for Everyone
Yoga is for everyone. It is a universal practice that does not require any specific religious beliefs. Yoga is defined as "union", the integration or state of oneness with the Divine as our inner most self. It is a practice of returning to our higher awareness which is our true origin, and deepest nature.
The practice of yoga allows each individual to cultivate self-knowledge on the levels of physical body, the mind and that which is beyond body and mind, our true nature.
Through yogic asana (postural) practice we come to understand our bodies better and our unique constitution. By opening areas of the body that are tense and tight and strengthening areas of the body that are weak we bring balance and heightened vitality to our physical body.
By drawing our awareness within and away from the outside world we learn about the workings of our mind and the transitory nature of our emotions. Through the cultivation of focus and concentration our minds begin to quiet and we return to our center.
Once the mind becomes silent, a deep state of inner peace is reached. In this state one has the power to reflect on our higher reality which in yoga is believed to be supreme oneness with all that is.
