Loren Mahaffey
Loren Mahaffey graduated from The University of Arizona with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Molecular and Cellular Biology. Her initial ambitions were to attend Medical School but after working in medical research during college she felt it was not the right match for the contribution she wished to make in working with others. She took a 7 year hiatus from health care work and created a successful jewelry manufacturing company called Hana Leia Designs which sold to galleries and boutiques throughout the U.S.
During this time Loren became a dedicated yoga student and began to receive bodywork to help improve both her physical and emotional wellbeing. Throughout her 7 years of owning and operating Hana Leia Designs Loren became less and less able to ignore the growing voice inside of her that she was meant to work with others in some healing fashion.
Through her direct experience of empowerment, increased health and emotional balance from practicing yoga and receiving bodywork Loren became inspired to pursue a career in these modalities. In 1999, during the last year of operating Hana Leia Designs Loren began formal study of Zen Shiatsu. In 2000 she began her initial teacher training in Hatha Yoga. In 2000 Loren sold Hana Leia Designs and began a practice as a bodywork therapist. In 2001 she began teaching yoga.
Loren moved to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands in 2003 and established a body therapy and yoga private practice. It is Loren's love for learning and continued education, combined with her deep belief that everyone can create increased health and balance in their life that has enabled Loren to grow into a knowledgeable and supportive bodywork therapist, yoga instructor and healer. Loren knows she is doing the work she is meant to do in this life and this brings her great joy.
